QUESTION: WHAT ARE THE REASONS FOR WATER BAPTISM?

ANSWER:  REASONS FOR  BAPTISM:  Some people do not hold great importance to baptism –seeing it as either unnecessary, or an “option” of being a Christian. On the other hand, the Word of God places great emphasis upon the ordinance. Here are some reasons why you should be baptized:

  • Baptism is a command from the Lord (Matthew 28:19-20).
  • The Lord Jesus Christ was baptized (Matthew 3:13-17)……To fulfil all righteousness!
  • Ethiopian asked of Philip in the last part of Acts 8:36.
  • Look up Acts 2:38.
  • Just before our Lord ascended back to Heaven, He left “orders” for His work to be continued. These orders are given in Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-48; John 20:21; and Acts 1:8.
  • The Lord spoke and commanded these words to His disciples:  To go, preach, baptize, and teach all nations. This applies to His Church today, as His disciples of present day. He obviously considered the authority in baptism to be important. It is just as important today as it was then..
  • Some churches Baptise you as a confirmation of becoming their church member.(Acts 2:41-42)

 =====================================

Please note the following: To be born again is a spiritual event.  To be baptised is a physical event. God is a spirit and those that will worship God will do so in spirit and in truth. ~John 4:23-24  If you are baptised in water, but not born again, it will be like going to have a bath in the river. You would not be able to make heaven.  If you are baptised in water and not living a holy life believing that you are covered by the ceremony of baptism, you would not be able to make heaven. If you are born again, but could not go through baptism for one reason or the other – you would be able to make heaven if you are walking with God and in his revealed righteousness to you. The Word of God is so clear about the criteria for gaining eternal life or passing on to be with Jesus Christ/making heaven. Acknowledging; repentance; forgiveness; acceptance……….
