13. MOVING FROM GLORY TO GLORY

“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.  For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. ~ 2 Corinthians 3:18. The desire of God is for all of his children who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour to become like His Son, Jesus Christ in all things. The Word of God states in 2 peter 1:3 that “By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvellous glory and excellence. He also helps us to understand in Romans 8:29 that “For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his son, so that his son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Beloved, we can see from the above scriptures how God so desires each one of us to become like his Son – Jesus Christ. We are to be his splitting image in deeds, words and thoughts. God’s desire is to see each one of us move from one level of glory to another. Pressing onward and going higher. Marching forward and never backwards. We are not called to be up on the mountain top experience today and down with the valley experience another day, moving back and forth; in and out of fervency with the Lord Christ, one leg in and another out. For such the bible states in Proverbs 26:11 “As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his foolishness. 2 Peter 2:22 describes such Christians as not only a dog returning to his own vomit, but as a washed pig returning to the mud. As Christians, we are to allow God’s word to break, remould and remake us. We must allow God’s word to wash us and set us free from every form of weakness, besetting sins and afflictions. Only then shall we see what our life is truly supposed to be like from God’s standpoint. Then shall we come to the perfection of the image of his dear son our lord Jesus Christ. Then shall our lights shine forth for all the world to see and behold. Shalom!
