07. Your Shield In God – Part 1
We live in very perilous times, where human lives are equated to almost of ‘no value’. Yet each human soul on earth is of great value and can never be equated to the costliest of all stones or the whole world put together. The devil knows this, and this is why he seeks the acquisition of human soul like no man’s business, dead or alive. Your human soul is worth much more, than for another fellow human being to be used of the devil to terminate it in an attempt to gain wealth, position or any mundane acquisition of this world.
The bible states that “The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and the destroy. (John 10:10. He does not do so by himself, but uses fellow human beings as vessels in his hands to fulfil this agenda. The Word of God therefore states “Be sober, be vigilant; because our adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in world. (1 Peter 5:8-9).
The truth is, we are surrounded daily by seen and unseen enemies, coupled with seen and unseen arrows constantly flying around everywhere. These arrows are no respecter of anyone and care less where they land. Over the course of time, the forces of darkness have intensified their march against the human race; systematically changing strategies and recouping themselves with more sophisticated equipment, the human race have turned out to be of no match for them, but have rather been made puppets by these forces. If you live in a location where everything appears physically tranquil, you may still need to understand that there is usually another city located above your visible city, and so likewise it is in the entire world. These cities are being managed by the rulers of darkness in high places, the forces in these cities have no intention of tranquility.
The question now is: what do we do? and how do we position ourselves daily in order not be a casualty in the hands of these lions?
Firstly, let’s take a look at what I would describe as the first counsel from Ephesians 6:10-18.“Finally (1) my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (2) Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (3) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (4) Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (5) Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and (6) Having on the breastplate of righteousness;(7) And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; (eight) Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench al the fiery darts of the wicked. (9) And take the helmet of salvation, and (10) the sword of the spirit which is the word of God. (11) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit and (12) Watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
Before we go on further to discuss other important things that can also be done in order to avoid being taken unawares by satanic human agents, I would consider it of importance to mirror our individual selves firstly, before these scriptures, and see how it reflects back our spiritual image in light of these instructions.
